“The Maker Movement is thriving, and 4-H programs have the opportunity to get involved and keep 4-H relevant. Making is gaining traction as a strategy to engage young people in building their science abilities. Collectively joining the Maker Movement would accelerate 4-H's national STEM goals and initiatives while enhancing the abilities of youth as they make innovative breakthroughs."* In Ohio, local Extension educators collaborated with two universities to host Maker events in fall 2016. This presentation will describe the partnerships and process that made these events possible, introduce best practices, and provide opportunities for participants to sample several of the Maker stations featured at each event.

Participants will have an opportunity to explore elementary STEM resources first hand. Inexpensive robots, construction materials, curricula, websites, and free standards-based lessons will be available. A short presentation will give a brief overview of the different resources.

An overview of the history of additive manufacturing and the different technologies which are often lumped together under the title of 3D printing. Included in this presentation will be a functional demonstration the slicer software used for of fused filament printing one of the more common 3D print technologies using the Fablicator 3D printer. Comparisons to other 3D print technologies will be made as well as how they generally compare to other 3D print technologies on the market. Rather than lead your audience in a step-like manner, why not give them more control over the sequence of your presentation? If the group is interested in one or two aspects of your presentation, why should you lead them through four or five others? A nonlinear approach gives you the potential to respond to audience needs by altering your presentation to match those needs.
